The short answer—both are incredible, just completely different.

Our tours are designed around the natural rhythms of wildlife, meaning you’ll encounter different species depending on whether they’re active during the day or night. Each experience offers its own unique highlights.

Morning Walks are perfect if you’re new to macro photography or want to sharpen your skills (camera hire available). This is the best time to photograph a wide variety of tiny subjects, especially Jumping Spiders—arguably the cutest of all spiders. We will also encounter beetles, butterflies, praying mantises, and other fascinating insects, along with birds and the stunning plant life of the Cairns Botanic Gardens, all best appreciated in daylight.

Night Walks offer a completely different kind of adventure. As darkness falls, the forest comes alive with nocturnal species. Many insects and spiders emerge, and frogs become far more active as they hunt. There’s also a strong chance of spotting animals such as the Papuan Frogmouth, Striped Possum, Bandicoots, Pademelons, and even Giant Rainforest Rats.

If you’re choosing between the two, it really comes down to what excites you most—or better yet, experience both for the full rainforest story.  We recommend doing the Morning Walk first.
